So April 1 (April Fools Day) was very exciting for us. I was working the cell phone and email at home trying to close an acquisition for a client when our home phone began ringing off the hook at 8 am.
What was so exciting? Each caller had that breathless expectation in their voice as if they were trying to beat all other callers. I answered the first call just before 8 am:
Chris: [sounding busy and annoyed] "Hello"?
Caller: [sounding in a rush like she is calling a radio contest and hoping to the be 36th caller] "I'm calling about the ad!"
Chris: [still sounding annoyed but now also sounding confused] "What ad?"
Caller: "Your Craigslist ad. Is the Spider Monkey still available?"
Chris: "What? You must have the wrong number."
Caller: "Is this Chris?"
Chris: "Yes"
Caller: "You're the one with the Spider Monkey"
I am not always super quick on the uptake, but I began to suspect that something was amiss. We received 40+ calls that day. Who knew that Spider Monkeys were so popular?
It took a while to find, but below is the Craigslist ad. My hats off to you, Senior Wicke (http://wickeworld.blogspot.com/), for pulling off this great April Fools Day prank. You are next!!

Fun and friendly spider monkey is house trained and great with children. We are moving out of country and cannot take "George" with us. Please call and ask for Chris, 480-[xxx-xxxx]. Please leave a message if we are not around -leave name, number and describe your ability to care for this type of pet.
